Lake Silbersee
Lake Silbersee is situated in a densely wooded area and was created by flooding the former Werminghoff II lignite mine. It has been open for public use since the 1970s. Friedersdorf beach is a popular swimming spot on Lake Silbersee. Although public use of the lake is currently suspended because of mining reclamation work, the beach has been approved for swimming on a temporary basis.

Swimming
The Friedersdorf beach is temporarily not open for bathing in the designated area, and due to the ongoing redevelopment it can only be used again from 2025. A dog beach is designated. Trees provide shade on the sunbathing lawn. The Silbersee is an EU bathing water with excellent water quality. Sampling is currently suspended due to limited bathing use. The bathing beach is unguarded.
