Hiring boats and rafts in the Lusatian Lakeland
The Lusatian Lakeland is ideal for trips by boat or raft. The former open-cast mines are being transformed into a man-made waterscape with more than 20 new lakes. Eventually, ten lakes will be linked by navigable canals to form a total area of around 7,000 hectares of interconnected water. Lake Senftenberg is already connected to Lake Geierswalde via the Koschen Canal, which features a lock that adds to the excitement of the trip.
Motorboats can be hired at Lake Senftenberg, Lake Geierswalde and Lake Bärwalde, and don’t necessarily require a licence. If you’d rather not take the helm yourself you can sit back, relax, and get an experienced tour guide to ferry you around the lakes.
A raft trip is an adventure for the whole family. Board your raft on Lake Senftenberg – no licence required – and discover the freedom and wide open spaces of the new lakes. You can hire rafts for a day trip or overnight. If you prefer to have your barbecue on the water rather than on the beach you can also hire round barbecue boats on Lake Geierswalde. Again, no licence is required.
