Water-based activities
Among windsurfers, the excellent winds in the Lusatian Lakeland are no longer just an insider’s tip. The large open expanses of water produce a fair amount of cresting waves that are ideal for windsurfing. Lake Geierswalde, Lake Bärwalde and Lake Senftenberg are particularly popular for windsurfing, with Lake Dreiweibern, Lake Partwitz and the Spremberg reservoir also offering suitable conditions. Kitesurfing is available on Lake Bärwalde and Lake Geierswalde. You can learn how to windsurf at windsurfing school on Lake Senftenberg.
If you’re looking for a bit of a buzz, you can also try out waterskiing or wakeboarding, or you can train if you already know how to do it. Lake Halbendorf has a waterskiing and wakeboarding facility where intrepid enthusiasts are towed across the water by a cable. It offers beginners courses, hourly and daily passes, and a hire service. Whether you’ve got previous experience or not, after a few turns you’ll soon get the hang of it. Lake Geierswalde has a specially designated area where you can get towed by a motorboat; you can bring your own boat by prior arrangement.
