Family cycle tours on the Seenland Route

A spectacular landscape comprising more than 20 new lakes is being created between Dresden and Berlin. The Seenland Route runs through this new Lusatian Lakeland – from Lake Grossräschen in the north to Lake Bärwalde in the south. Along this 191km cycle route, you can witness the emergence of Europe’s biggest man-made waterscape at close hand. Here, where the mining of brown coal once dominated the landscape, opencast mines are being flooded to create a new lake district. In some places it is still possible to see the transitory phase between opencast mine and lake. Other lakes were flooded decades ago and now boast swimming beaches, water sports, marinas, landmarks and amphitheatres. This tour runs mainly on asphalt paths and is mostly flat. Cyclists’ needs are well catered for all along the route, with a wide choice of cyclist-friendly Bed & Bike accommodation.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive at the prebooked accommodation in Grossräschen (incl. parking for the duration of the tour)
5–6.30pm: Meet the organiser at the hotel in Grossräschen, receive GPS and briefing, guided tour of IBA Terraces and the Grossräschen marina

Day 2: Grossräschen – Bluno (22km)
Day 3: Bluno –Spremberg (approx. 15km)
Day 4: Spremberg – Lohsa/Weisskollm (23km)
Day 5: Lohsa/Weisskollm – Hoyerswerda/Schwarzkollm (22km)
Day 6: Hoyerswerda/Schwarzkollm –Senftenberg/Grosskoschen (12km)
Day 7: Raft tour on Lake Senftenberg (10am to 2pm)

Explore the beautiful scenery of the Lusatian Lakeland with an unforgettable rafting trip. Experience the almost limitless freedom of the lake landscape with your family. The rafts are easy to manoeuvre and you don’t need a licence to hire one. Equipped with an 8hp outboard motor, they can carry up to eight people.
€150.00 deposit per raft is payable in cash at the time of hire

Day 8: Senftenberg/Grosskoschen –Grossräschen (18km)
