Lake Felixsee
Lake Felixsee enjoys an idyllic woodland setting in the Muskau Bend Geopark. Natural ravines and the remnants of open-cast mines combine to form a unique landscape here. Between 1850 and 1960, brown coal was mined both above and below ground in the surrounding area. Lake Felixsee was created by flooding the former Felix pit. Starting in the 1970s, a group of holiday chalets was built on the lakeshore. The lake’s very own landmark, a viewing tower, was added in October 2004. The top platform offers amazing vistas across the Lusatian woodlands and the course of the Muskau Bend with its gorges and gullies.
